Who we are
Uniben Calendar provides academic calendar discovery, timetable information, calendar management and advertising services for the University of Benin community. For privacy questions, requests or complaints, email unibencalendar@gmail.com.
Information we collect
- Account information such as your name, email address, role and account status.
- Calendars you follow, Calendar Assistant assignments, events and requests you submit.
- Advertiser applications, campaigns, target calendars, payments, receipts and campaign performance.
- Calendar Assistant earnings, payout requests and payout references.
- Security and technical information needed to operate the service.
- If you allow anonymous analytics, a random browser identifier, pages visited, broad country and region, device type, and daily advert views or clicks. We do not attach these records to your name or email and do not store your IP address in our analytics table.
Why we use information
We use account and activity information to provide the service, authenticate users, protect restricted features, deliver calendar updates, process advertising, calculate campaign delivery and Assistant earnings, prevent duplicate advert counts, send requested service emails, investigate problems and meet legal or accounting duties.
Depending on the situation, our reasons for processing are performing our agreement with you, complying with legal obligations, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the platform, and your consent where consent is required.
Site and advertising analytics
Site visits, broad location, device type, sponsored advert views and clicks are counted only after you choose “Allow anonymous analytics.” Location is estimated from your internet connection and is not precise GPS location. A random browser identifier helps prevent duplicate daily counts and expires after 12 months. You can decline without losing access to calendars.
You can change your choice using “Privacy choices” in the site footer. Declining stops future analytics from that browser; it does not remove legitimate financial or security records already created.
Who processes information
We use carefully selected service providers, including Supabase for authentication and database services, Vercel for hosting, Resend for operational emails, Paystack for advertising payments and Google Calendar when calendar connection features are used. Each provider processes information under its own terms and privacy commitments.
These providers may process information in countries outside your own. We assess the services and rely on appropriate legal safeguards where required.
How long we keep information
We keep active account information while the account is in use. Calendar and service records are kept while needed to provide reliable schedules. Security and advertising analytics records are reviewed and retained only while reasonably needed for fraud prevention and campaign reporting. Payment, receipt, earnings and payout records may be kept longer where required for accounting, disputes or law. When information is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it where reasonably possible.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or an explanation of how it is used. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent for future processing where consent is the basis.
Your right to object: email us if you object to our use of your information for a stated legitimate interest. We will consider the request and explain the outcome.
Contact unibencalendar@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Complaints
Please contact us first so we can investigate. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or, where UK data protection law applies, the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
Security and updates
We use access controls, secure authentication and database restrictions designed to protect information. No online service can promise absolute security. We may update this policy as the platform changes and will publish the new date here.
